    What we help with

Defamation and harassment cases succeed or fail on evidence and on choosing the right route. Most of our work happens before anything is filed.

    False statements about a business

Posts, articles and forum threads that state false facts about your company, products or staff, as opposed to opinions or reviews.

    Personal attacks and harassment

Repeated abusive posts, threatening messages and coordinated pile-ons aimed at you or your family.

    Doxxing

Publication of your home address, phone number, workplace or family details to harass or intimidate you.

    Anonymous accounts

Content posted from fake or anonymous profiles, where the first step is often a platform report or a disclosure application through a lawyer.

    How it works

    01

    Free assessment

Send us the links. Within one business day we tell you which routes are realistic for each item, and which are not.

    02

    Evidence and plan

We collect screenshots, URLs and dates, map each item to the rule or law it breaks, and give you a fixed quote.

    03

    Reports and requests

We prepare and file the platform reports, legal forms and publisher requests, and follow up on each one.

    04

    Follow-up and monitoring

We track every request to a decision, escalate where possible, and watch for the content coming back.

What we can and cannot do

We would rather tell you the truth at the start than sell you a promise. Platforms and courts make the final decision on removal, not us.

    We can

    • Preserve evidence properly before content is edited or deleted
    • File reports under each platform's harassment and defamation policies
    • Prepare the factual summary your lawyer needs, which saves legal fees
    • Use a court or regulator order, once granted, to request removal from platforms and search engines

    We cannot

    • Guarantee that a platform or court will remove anything
    • Remove genuine reviews or honest opinions you disagree with
    • Hack, threaten or pay anyone to take content down
    • Give legal advice ourselves (we work alongside lawyers for that)

Routes available in Australia and New Zealand

Which route fits depends on what was posted, who posted it and where. We go through this with you in the free assessment.

    Platform reports

Every major platform has its own rules on harassment, bullying and false information. A well-documented report is the fastest and cheapest route when the content clearly breaks those rules.

Australia: eSafety adult cyber abuse scheme

Australia's eSafety Commissioner can require platforms to remove seriously harmful online abuse targeting an adult, once it has been reported to the platform first.

    Australia: Defamation law

Australian defamation law is set by the states and territories. Before suing, you must send a concerns notice, and several states have updated their laws on the liability of online platforms.

New Zealand: Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015

If a digital communication causes you serious emotional distress, you can complain to Netsafe, and in some cases apply to the District Court for orders, including takedown.

    New Zealand: Defamation Act 1992

New Zealand defamation law protects individuals and businesses from false statements that damage reputation. A lawyer's letter is often the first step.

This page is general information, not legal advice. Where a case needs a lawyer, we work with your own counsel or introduce a law firm.

    FAQ

Defamation and Harassment Support FAQs: Australia and New Zealand

What is the difference between defamation and a bad review?

A review that gives an honest opinion of a real experience is usually lawful, even if it is harsh. Defamation involves false statements of fact that damage your reputation. We assess each post against this line before recommending any action.

Australia: Is a bad review defamation in Australia?

Usually not. Honest opinion about a real experience is protected, and businesses with 10 or more employees generally cannot sue for defamation. False statements of fact about individuals can be different.

New Zealand: Do I have to go to Netsafe before court?

Yes. Under the Harmful Digital Communications Act, Netsafe must usually have had the chance to deal with a complaint before you can apply to the District Court.

Can you find out who is behind an anonymous account?

We cannot unmask anyone ourselves. In some cases a lawyer can apply to court for the platform to disclose account details. We can tell you whether your situation is likely to support that.

    How long does it take?

Platform reports often get a decision within one to three weeks. Legal routes take longer, from several weeks to a few months depending on the case.
