    Reviews we can report

Platforms take down reviews that break their rules, not reviews that are simply negative. We focus on the reviews that have a real case for a report.

Reviews from people who were never customers

Reviews from accounts with no record of visiting, buying or using your service, often posted in a short burst or from new profiles.

    Competitor and ex-employee reviews

Reviews written by a competitor, a former employee or someone else with a conflict of interest, which most platforms do not allow.

    Spam, hate and personal information

Off-topic rants, spam links, hateful or obscene language, threats, and reviews that share private details about you or your staff.

    Review attacks

A sudden wave of one-star reviews driven by a news story, a social media post or a dispute, rather than by real experiences.

    01

    Free assessment

Send us the links. Within one business day we tell you which routes are realistic for each item, and which are not.

    02

    Evidence and plan

We collect screenshots, URLs and dates, map each item to the rule or law it breaks, and give you a fixed quote.

    03

    Reports and requests

We prepare and file the platform reports, legal forms and publisher requests, and follow up on each one.

    04

    Follow-up and monitoring

We track every request to a decision, escalate where possible, and watch for the content coming back.

What we can and cannot do

We would rather tell you the truth at the start than sell you a promise. Platforms and courts make the final decision on removal, not us.

    We can

    • Check each review against the platform's written policies
    • Gather evidence such as customer records, dates and reviewer account patterns
    • File reports through the business owner channels and follow up to a decision
    • Draft a calm public reply for reviews that are likely to stay up

    We cannot

    • Guarantee that a platform will take down any review
    • Remove genuine reviews or honest opinions you disagree with
    • Post fake reviews, or threaten or pay reviewers to delete theirs
    • Give legal advice ourselves (we work alongside lawyers for that)

    Routes available in Malaysia

Which route fits depends on what was posted, who posted it and where. We go through this with you in the free assessment.

    Google review policies

Google's content policies for reviews cover fake engagement, conflicts of interest, off-topic content, harassment, hate speech and personal information. A business owner can report a review from the Business Profile, check the status of the report, and in some cases appeal the decision.

    Other review sites

Facebook, TripAdvisor and most industry review sites publish their own review guidelines and have reporting forms for business owners. Each site sets its own rules, so we quote the guideline that applies.

    Defamation Act 1957

A review that states false facts about your business can be defamatory under Malaysian law. A lawyer's letter of demand is often the first legal step.

    Communications and Multimedia Act 1998

Section 233 can apply to false, menacing or grossly offensive content posted to abuse or harass. In some cases a complaint can be made to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

This page is general information, not legal advice. Where a case needs a lawyer, we work with your own counsel or introduce a law firm.

    FAQ

Fake and Abusive Review Removal Requests FAQs: Malaysia

Can you remove a bad review that is genuine?

No. If a real customer describes a real experience, even harshly, platforms usually keep the review up, and we will tell you so at the start. For those reviews we help you write a calm, professional reply.

Can MCMC help with a fake review?

In some cases. MCMC handles complaints about online content that may break the Communications and Multimedia Act. For most fake reviews, a well-documented platform report is the faster route.

    How long does it take?

Platforms often decide on a report within days to a few weeks. Appeals and legal routes take longer. You get a realistic estimate in the free assessment.

    What evidence helps?

Anything that shows the reviewer was never a customer or has a conflict of interest: customer records with no matching visit or purchase, the timing of a wave of reviews, and links between the reviewer and a competitor or former staff member. Screenshots of the review and the reviewer's profile also help, in case either is edited.
